Matt Jackson has played in the Padres system for 3 years now. He Last year he played for the Tin Caps before moving up to high A.
I sent him a note and he responded recently!
Matt said that he loved playing for the Tin Caps. The city and park were great.
I enjoy living in Kentucky, and Minor League Baseball. "Kentucky Baseball" will cover pro baseball in and around the state of Kentucky

Ben's Chili Dog at Nationals Park
More on that later, but I wanted to mention that I was able to enjoy a Ben's chili dog at the game!
I wasn't able to make it to the legendary location of Ben's Chili Bowl, but I was happy to score one of these at the game.
It was great! Believe the hype! It was a quality dog loaded up!

Wild Pitches
We just completed a little road trip through Washington DC and Baltimore! We hit both current active major league parks in those areas, and had a great ime at both places. I am still sorting through my photos, but I will get pictures up soon.
It was my first time at both places. I easily see what the hype is at Camden yards, but I would still rank it behind PNC in Pittsburgh. We are having a bit of a debate about Camden vs. Commerica. I love the skyline at Commerica. Point Commerica. Also, we probably walked the same distance to get to each park during our visits to each park. We were hassled endlessly on our way to Commerica. No hassle at all on the way to Camden. Point Camden. OK, two points for Camden on that one.
Baltimore is just a GREAT sports town. At the Babe Ruth Museum and at the Baltimore Sports Hall of Fame, I had wonderful conversations with a could of older guys who could talk for hours about the town's sports hsitory. You have to love that!
Also, the ushers and other fans would get yell for people to take a seat if they stood too long. I like that kind of enjoyment of watching the game!
I thought the Nationals have a very nice park too. Much nicer than I expected. more on both trips soon!

Bill Lee and Joe Morgan, Red Sox Legends
I was at a Pawtucket Red Sox game in 2005, and they had Red Sox legends Bill Lee and Joe Morgan there signing autographs!
Morgan was talkative about his career, and very friendly.
Bill Lee seemed a bit stiff and thoughtful, though still very friendly with the fans.
Someone did ask Joe Morgan to sign a Reds program, and he had to explain that he was not THAT Joe Morgan.
I guess, after reading some of Bill's writing, I wasn't sure of what to expect.
Anyway, it was cool seeing these two guys, and Pawtucket is a great area. I had a veggie dog at this park that was amazing!

Eric Wedge
I took this picture of Mariners manager Eric Wedge during his time with my old hometown team the Cleveland Indians. He was signing autographs at a local mall.
I know Wedge has taken some lumps lately, but I always liked him. I still think his best days are ahead of him.
I thought he had a couple of average years with the Tribe, but he had several great years. I felt they let him go earlier than needed.

Josh Hamilton
Again, going through some old photos.....
This is a photo I took of Josh Hamilton when he was making his comeback. You know, just before he was picked in the Rule 5 draft and shifted to the Reds.
This photo was taken at a Mahoning Valley Scrappers in Ohio.
I remember him walking out towards the clubhouse and all. He looked HUGE compared to the other players (the NYPL is composed mostly of kids right out of high school or college). He looked like a giant next to his teammates.

Duffy Dyer
Just going through older photos I have taken at various parks.
I found this one of one of my all time favorites, Duffy Dyer.
I think I took this one in 2005 when he managed the AA Erie SeaWolves.
Duffy was a member of that legendary 1969 Mets team, and he played for the Pirates during the 70s.
As a side note, my wife may have bought me the jersey Duffy is wearing in this photo for Christmas one year.
That really has nothing to do with the content of this blog... I am just bragging.
