Quad Cities River Bandits Park Updates

Fun guy Benjamin Hill wrote a great article on milb.com about the Quad Cities River Bandits park getting some amusement park style additions.

Here is the article-

First off, have you been to Modern Woodmen Park in Davenport?  The place is amazing.  It is a unique and beautiful place to see a game.  Here is some info from my visit there back in 2012-

I guess I am asking myself, "Does adding a Ferris wheel to this park make me want to visit it again?"

The answer is, "Absolutely."

Again, even without rides and updates, this park is perfect.  That bridge is amazing, and in a cozy little park like this, you are going to have a great baseball experience!

Still, I tip my hat to the River Bandits organization for wanting to do more.  They obviously want this park to be beyond amazing.  They want the baseball purist, and the young kid to have a great time.

  1. When I was a kid growing up in Davenport, we used to sneak into John O'Donnell Stadium (It's former name). We'd get one of the neighborhood parents to drive us down and we'd have coupons for free tickets with an empty PBR can. If not, we'd sneak in via the left field fence. That was when they were the Angels affiliate. Fast forward 25+ years later and it's a superb park. We always enjoyed sitting on the third base side facing the river. When the casino boats used to go up and down the river, they'd play their calliope by the stadium when they went under the bridge. They've also added a berm around the park due to the annual Miississippi River flooding. I have some great memories of that place.

  2. Thanks Comatoad! Man, I bet that was fun back then! It sounds like the park was just as spectacular then as it is now. This seemed like a nice area in general and I look forward to making it back there soon!
